Shawna Leader and Allison Milton/The AS Review
For some people, the quintessential American dessert is apple pie. For others, it might be a blackberry crisp. But for many kids, and college students looking for a quick dessert, rice krispy treats rise to the top when it comes to sweet snacks. And we don’t mean the ones that come in packages and taste like sweetened sawdust. We’re talking homemade; we’re talking licking melted marshmallow off of a spoon just because you can.
But, have you tried them with other kinds of cereal? These delicious marshmallow treats can be enjoyed with more than just snap, crackle and pop. One version used apple jacks, cocoa puffs, honey smacks, cheerios and fruity pebbles in place of rice krispies. It might sound complicated, but this is a dessert for cereal lovers. Try using one or two of your favorite cereals and make a quintessential dessert of your own.
