This Saturday, local bands will perform at HigFOM, the annual Edens/Higginson Hall Festival of Music. The festival, which begins at 3 p.m. in the VU Multipurpose Room, will feature Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, Barcelona, The Mission Orange, Austin Jenckes and The Sunshine Bumpers.
“It’s a good showcase of local talent and regional talent,” Hallie Anderson, ASP Pop Music coordinator, said. ASP Pop Music collaborated with members of the Edens/Higginson Hall Council to make the concert happen.
In addition to providing live local music, the event also has a diverse lineup and several popular bands, freshman Ethan Gill, a member of the Edens/Higginson Hall Council who coordinated booking the bands, said.
“The top three bands that we have—Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head, Barcelona, Mt St Helens Vietnam Band—they’re good enough to headline on their own,” Gill said.
The event is entirely student-organized, Gill said.
Gill and Anderson said they are most looking forward to seeing Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head.
“It was a big dance party,” Anderson said of the band’s performance at the Underground Coffeehouse two years ago.
Attendees can drop in at the event, which is free, whenever they want, Anderson said.
