Colin Watrin / AS Vice President for Activities

Wondering how to get the most out of your Western experience? Want to meet people who share your interests? Looking for a few extracurricular activities to throw on your resume? Well, then you should check out the Associated Students Club System. Each year Western students participate in over 200 AS Clubs. No matter what you are passionate about or interested in there is a club for you! The club categories include, Academic, Arts & Music, Cultural, Environmental, Limited membership, Political, Recreational, Religious, Social Issues, Special Interest and Service.
If you don’t find a club that fits you or you have a great idea for a new club, it is easy to start your own; all you need is five people and a mission statement. If this is something you’re interested in, check out the AS Club Web site at www.as.wwu.edu/clubs for information about how to start a new club, a list of existing clubs and their contact information and explanations of the resources available to clubs.
For existing club members, there are a few things you will want to keep an eye out for. Club Kickoff is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 16. Club leaders, be sure to mark your calendars for this event as it will be an opportunity to meet other clubs, learn how to publicize your events, get tips on how to manage your club budgets and enjoy free pizza. This event is required for all returning clubs to complete the renewal process.
Anyone looking to represent their club category on Inter Club Council (ICC) this year should look for applications in the Activities Center VU 425.
If you have any questions about renewing, joining or creating a club feel free to contact me, your AS VP for Activities, at ASVP.Activities@wwu.edu, (360) 650-3463 or in my office in VU 504B.
Keep an eye out for the new featured club profiles in future editions of The AS Review.
