This Friday, during the AS Viking Union Late night, KUGS will be hosting the first of two Air Guitar competitions. Our preliminary round will be taking place between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on the 6th floor of the Viking Union. Contestants will have the opportunity to head bang, finger tap and throw some horns all in the name of rock ‘n' roll. The chosen few who strut their stuff, get sweaty and put their air guitar calluses to the test will be thrown onto the main stage later this year as one of the musical acts during KUGS' 35th Anniversary Concert Celebration.

If this sounds interesting to you and you're ready to fulfill an ancient rock ‘n' roll prophecy, then KUGS wants you! Sign-ups will be available during the Red Square Info Fair at the KUGS table (we'll be the ones spinning sweet tunes!) or you can fill out the form on the back of the AS Review and turn it in to KUGS, which is located in Viking Union 700. Although we at the radio station appreciate and admire the free spirit of rock, KUGS has a few stipulations for the contest, all of which are easy to abide by. First, we ask that you select a one minute song segment, so remember those track times! Second, burned copies of the song (no MP3s please!) onto CD-R would be very helpful (how can we play your request without source material?)! Thirdly, although you may be able to walk up and down a fret board at lightning speed, remember that theatrics and costumes are just as important. There's a reason ABBA went multi-platinum, dudes, and it ain't their guitar work. Finally, we kindly ask that the song you choose to perform be clean—no cussing or bigotry. With that being said, we look forward to seeing all types of air guitar wizardry.
