Join us in discussing local water issues and examining our impacts on the local water environment. The panel speakers include: Maureen Ryan from Fairhaven College discussing how climate change is affecting water ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest. Michael McFarlane of Whatcom Country Parks and Recreation sharing details on the reconveyence of Lake Whatcom. Robin Matthews of Huxley College - Institute for Watershed Studies speaking on eutrophication and the impacts of pollution on Lake Whatcom. Eleanor Hines of Surfrider Foundation discussing Surfrider campaigns including the bag ban and projects students can get involved in. William M. Reilly of the City of Bellingham Public Works - Storm and Surface Water examining what we can do to improve the quality of water in Bellingham. Through hearing these diverse perspectives on water around Bellingham, we hope to engage students, staff, and the greater community to become aware about local water issues and inspire people to get involved.
