AS Clubs

The Associated Students recognizes over 200 clubs each year, so it is a pretty safe bet that you can find a club that meets your interests. But if you browse the club listing and can’t find the club you are looking for, then you should think about starting a new club.

There are new clubs forming all the time, so check back regularly or contact Casey Hayden ( Casey.Hayden@wwu.edu ) if you have any questions at all about AS clubs.

How to Join a Club

Browse the 200+ clubs listed in the 11 different categories by using the navigation links on the side of the page. When you find a club you are interested in, email or call the contact person to find out about their upcoming meetings or activities. Most clubs are always searching for new members.

How to Start a New Club

  1. Download the Club Recognition Packet.
  2. Get at least 5 students to join and fill out the Recognition Request Form, which is the last page of the Recognition Packet or can be submitted online using the link on the side of this page
  3. Meet with Casey Hayden for a quick, 15-minute Club Consultation (call 650-3450 or come by VU 535 to make appt.).
  4. Your club’s Coordinator (and as many members as you like) must attend a Club Orientation session, which is a 1-hour orientation to all the important resources and processes you’ll need to know about to make your club successful. You can schedule this session when you meet with Casey for your Club Consultation.
  5. Attend the A.S. Activities Council meeting to have the club officially recognized by the Associated Students.
  6. Your club’s Budget Authority must attend Budget Authority Training with Kayle Walls (AS.Business@wwu.edu), the AS Business Director (call 650-6112 or email him to set an appointment).

How to Renew a Club from Last Year

Check the club’s mailbox (VU 5th floor) and/or email inbox for the Registration Update Form – fill it out and turn it in by Oct. 20th! Also, if your club is eligible, don’t forget to submit the request for $50 Basic Funding.
